Even though Doretha, Chuck, Linda, and myself were going camping at Banff in a few days, we (with heavy input pressure from Barbara) decided to make a day trip to Banff since Mother, Ray, and Barbara would not have that camping opportunity.
After about an hour and a half drive, we arrived at the visitor centre at Canmore, just outside of Banff National Park. The view outside the centre was rather wonderful:
We then proceeded to drive through the Park to Lake Louise. On the way, I shot these photos through the window, a practice I usually avoid.
Well, we have arrived. So, we walked up a short trail.
We are not alone. There is still a lot of room to take pictures though.
It is a breathtakingly beautiful glacial lake. Photographs really do not do it justice.
Here are some of the terrain surrounding the lake:
The Fairmont Hotel is on the foreshores of the lake.
Here is a pan:
We drove back to Banff where we stopped for lunch. Barbara thought we should go for a real Canadian Restaurant so we could get “real” maple syrup. In actually, most of us had a gigantic hamburger. I offset that with a hamburger soup. We ate under a moose head. It was all very authentic.
Accidental self portrait.
I suppose that Banff village is like any other mountain resort town in that it has great surroundings. Banff certainly was an attractive village.
